- Support your child after every win as well as after every loss.
- Remember that youth sports if meant for children, not adults.
- Every child has different strengths.
- Provide your child with opportunities to develop a wide range of physical and mental abilities and avoid focusing only on winning.
- A child needs encouragement!
- Don’t criticize or humiliate your child and his team mates.
- Don’t raise your voice to your child as such behavior can negatively affect your child’s emotions.
- Be punctual! Bring your child to practice on time.
- Be a positive role model to your child and don’t loose control of your emotions.
- Try to remember that in the arena all players are equal!
- All children get to play, not only your child or the best players.
- Encourage your child to enjoy the game and give him/her time to develop skills and gain experience.
- A youth sport study indicates that children would rather play on a loosing team which allows them to participate, than a winning one, which consistently benches them.
- Avoid criticizing and instructing your child and his/her team mates from the sidelines.
- If you are not happy with the coaches’ work, discuss it with him privately.
- Remember you are the adult, so try to behave accordingly.
- It is more difficult for a child to deal with an adult who has lost his/her self control, than for an adult to deal with a child who has done the same.
- I will not interfere with coaches’ work.
- I will not instruct my child during practice or games.
- I will observe games from a suitable distance, away from the player and team benches.
- I will pay all the invoices on time.
- I will take care of monthly, tournament and miscellaneous fees in a timely manner.
- I understand that if I have delinquent bills, my child can not participate in practice or games until they are current.
- If I need a payment plan, I will appeal to my child’s team administrator.
- I care about my child’s wellbeing, including proper nutrition and school attendance, therefore I will not bring a sick or an injured child to practice or games.
- I will help contribute to the team spirit and to the sense of belonging of other parents.
- I believe that it is important for a child to feel good and to enjoy his/her hobby!
